A Malaysian transportation-oriented development company is partnering with a New Zealand developer to build a 21-story mixed-use tower above a rail station in Auckland, The Sun Daily reported on March 10. Malaysian Resources Corp. Bhd, a longtime builder of transportation-oriented developments, will assist Panuku Development Auckland in the design and construction of the Aotea Central Over Station Development (OSD), a 45,292-m2 building that includes retail and commercial space, along with 63 luxury apartments and integrated access to the City Rail Link’s Aotea Station. The OSD is described as “an inclusive urban regeneration project” that subscribes to the city’s sustainability goals. The 1.08-acre site, formerly a car park, sits in the Auckland City Center. Construction of the OSD is planned to begin after completion of Aotea Station, expected in 2024. The price of the tower is estimated at MYR1.3 billion (US$316 million).
