Condo Tower Tops Out at 27 Stories

The 27-story Windrose Tower by Windrose Partners LP (ELEVATOR WORLD, October 2017), part of the Legacy West development in Plano, part of the Dallas metropolitan area, has topped out, localproflle reported. In March, 65% of the tower’s 99 residences, including its top-floor penthouse, had been sold. The first residents of the property, on the northwest corner of Windrose Avenue and Headquarters Drive, are expected to move in this fall. Designed by GDA Architects, Windrose Tower will provide residents with what the developer calls a “lock and leave” lifestyle — where they can leave for extended periods of time without having to worry about property maintenance — with designer finishes, expansive balconies and an array of amenities.

Nairobi Condominium Tower Showcased

U.S. residents living abroad were offered the opportunity to buy homes in the 44-story 88 Nairobi tower in Nairobi, Kenya, during a March event in Dallas hosted by developer Lordship Africa, Mwakilishi reported. Located in a part of the city that is home to embassies, multinational corporations, and major players in the financial, legal and medical fields, the development began construction in 2018 and is expected to be complete in two and a half years. It will be the tallest private residential building in sub-Saharan Africa. Residences are being designed to “five-star hotel” standards and will boast views of the State House, Arboretum, the open fields of the Nairobi Club, and Central Business District from terraces and balconies.

thyssenkrupp Begins Moving In at New Atlanta Headquarters

On March 1, thyssenkrupp began transitioning to its new North American headquarters near Th e Battery and SunTrust Park, home of the Atlanta Braves, in metro Atlanta (ELEVATOR WORLD, September 2018), with employees moving into the new Business Headquarters (BHQ) building at 3100 North Circle in Pennant Park. Only 10 min. from the company’s future Corporate Headquarters (CHQ) and Innovation and Qualifi cation Center (IQC), the BHQ will house the shared services group across the fourth, fi ft h and sixth floors.

Construction on the CHQ and IQC is on track to begin later this year, with completion anticipated by July 2021 and move-in in summer 2022. When completed, the thyssenkrupp Elevator North America complex will house more than 900 full-time employees and include a 420-ft .-tall test tower — the tallest such tower in the U.S. A groundbreaking for the tower and IQC was scheduled for April 18. Steve Wedge, chief financial offi cer and interim CEO for thyssenkrupp Elevator North America observed, “Today is a very exciting day for our organization as the vision we outlined last summer for a new world-class headquarters is now becoming a reality.”
